ECONOMY

Egorievsk is turning into a perspective economic center. Its main industrial products include footwear, textile, machine tools, glass wool, confectionery, timber, medicines, and some others. The districts economy is on the rise. In 2002 the gross product has grown to 3288m rubles (comparing with 2170m rubles in 2000). For the last 3,5 year 17 new factories have been opened (4 of them in a countryside), and 1500 new jobs have been created. The new investments in the area are a priority. The investments have grown up as follows:

Now five foreign plants are being constructed in the district with the investments from US$10m to US$120m as well as two Russian owned factories.

There are well-known industrial leaders in the district, such as Gedeon Rihter (Hungary, pharmaceutical), Saint-Gobain (France, insulating glass-wool),Bella-TZMO (Poland, hygiene products), Kronospan (Austria, fiber boards).
