The Egorievsk district is situated in the southeast part of the Moscow region. It is one of 39 districts of the Moscow Region. The Federal Law specifies its status. The district has its own Charter. The Head of the district is Mikhail Lavrov, born in 1948, PhD (Economy). The legislative body of the district is a Council of 17 deputies that adopt the budget, impose the local taxes, grant tax rebates and manage the municipal property.

 

The district has a developed road network, 80 % of the roads are modern. A federal first class highway crosses the town. The way from Moscow to Egorievsk takes 1,5-2 hours. Egorievsk is connected by bus to all neighboring cities: Kolomna, Shatura, Orehovo-Zuyevo, etc. There are two railway routs to Mosow: via Voskresensk and via Kurovskoye. Egoryevsk-2 railway station is equipped for standard 20-tonn containers. A cargo airport is being constructed.

 

The Egorievsk district has 220 villages and settlements. Almost all of them are used as summer holiday places. There is still a lot of nice space for summer bungalows, tourist hotels and camping grounds..

The mineral resources of the region are: fusible clay, sand, phosphates and peat. The large phosphates fields are extended to the territories of 4 neighboring districts. The region has the largest peat deposits in the Moscow region (808805 cubic meters) that are listed in the State Fund.

There are 12 agricultural firms and many small farms in the area, including the biggest in Russia fishing ponds. They produce wheat, rye, barley, oats, potatoes, milk, meat, eggs, turkey meat and fish.

The State Employment center of Egorievsk offers the local employers a free recruitment. The employers may be subsidized to create new jobs and provide training for some categories of people. Some 3000 people of Egorievsk still prefer to work in Moscow. There are a number of highly qualified specialists among them.

Egorievsk is a home to 5 universities where the students are majoring in technology, automation, management, accounting, banking, auditing, psychology, foreign languages, teaching etc. There are 4 polytechnic schools where the students are studying driving, electrical engineering, secretarial skills, tailoring, industrial equipment tuning, turning, blacksmithing, computing, farming etc.

 

The district has 34 secondary schools, 36 kindergartens, 39 sport halls, 2 stadiums, swimming pool, The Art School for children, and an all-region Soccer Boarding Sport School Master-Saturn.

 

The whole territory of the district is covered by cell phone facilities. The Internet providers offer the modern-standard Web-connection. The district has land phone network (25 connections per 100 people).
